New Z-Tech® 2400 tug Triton launched
October 6, 2015
On September 11, the Triton, a new Z-Tech® 2400 class tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd was launched at Eastern Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Florida. The Triton is the first in a new series of eight (8) Z-Tech® 2400 tugs under construction for Suderman & Young and Bay Houston Towing at the Eastern shipyard.
The launching ceremony was hosted by Mr. Joseph D’Isernia, President of the shipyard. Mrs. Lisa Nigro, wife of Mr. Mike Nigro, VP of G & H Towing, Galveston launched the tug with loud cheers from all the yard workers, staff and guests.
Triton is the result of the successful delivery and operation of her predecessors Chloe K and Zeus which were the very first two Z-Tech® 2400 tugs developed by Robert Allan Ltd. to meet the operational requirements of G & H Towing. Also reflected in the Owner’s ideas are the 5 years of experience with the then new Z-Tech® concept in the construction of 8 larger Z-Tech® 7500 class tugs, starting with “Thor” in 2007. The latest series of tugs reflect the operational experience of the Owners with all of these Z-Tech® tugs, but particularly with the 24 metre versions. Only a few minor design modifications were incorporated into the latest series.
Particulars for the Triton are as follows:
Length Overall: Beam, Moulded: Depth, Moulded: Operating Draft: Power: Bollard Pull (predicted): |
