Fire-fighting Tugs

Many of today’s modern tugboats have significant fire-fighting (Fi-Fi) capability, offering much-needed supplementary protection to the ships and ports they serve.

A Fi-Fi capacity of Fi-Fi 1 (app. 2400 m³/hour) is almost a standard requirement for a modern harbour tug. However a few of these tugs have such a significant Fi-Fi capacity that the line between “tug” and “fireboat” becomes rather blurred! For example the RAstar 3900 tug Mojaweb designed for the Kuwait Port Authority is a tug with 65 tonnes BP and a Fi-Fi capacity of 8400 tonnes/hr.
