Job Description: The Marine Engineering Technologist will work as part of a team to produce diagrams and arrangements related to ship machinery and domestic systems generally under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will report to the Manager, Marine Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Produce ship systems diagrams and arrangements such as bilge, ballast, fuel, firefighting, machinery cooling, compressed air, lube oil, machinery exhaust, machinery space ventilation, domestic systems, HVAC, etc.
- Prepare documented calculations in support of design work.
- Assist with machinery and piping weight estimates.
- Assist with developing AutoCAD office standards (blocks, tables, etc.) and other design tools.
- Work in compliance with the Robert Allan Ltd ISO 9001 Quality Management Plan
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience of marine systems and piping arrangement/layout design in a shipyard or design office environment
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma of Technology in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
- Technical Skills:
- High level of competence with AutoCAD software.
- Proficient in MS Office and Teams.
- Familiarity with key aspects of ship structures, machinery and systems, and interpretation of related technical drawings and other.
- Proficiency in Rhino, ShipConstructor and/or other 3D design software.
