Peter Bernard Q.C. Joins Board of Directors at Robert Allan Ltd.

Mike Fitzpatrick, President, and Robert G. Allan, Executive Chairman are extremely pleased to announce that Mr. Peter Bernard, Q.C, a well-known and highly regarded retired maritime lawyer in Vancouver has been elected to the Board of Directors of Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects.
Peter brings to the Board of Robert Allan Ltd. a wealth of experience in the maritime field as well as a broad understanding of the global marine industry. This experience will be of great benefit to the company, now doing about 80% of its business outside of North America.
Peter practiced in the field of Maritime Law for more than forty-five years, finally as a founding partner of Bernard and Partners from which he retired in 2012. He has a very broad experience in all aspects of the field. His practice has ranged from collisions, salvage, oil pollution through cargo and passenger carriage, P&I and Hull insurance, fishing and coastal towing to commercial work including chartering, contracts of affreightment and terminal operation. He has been engaged in both international deep sea and coastal matters throughout. Peter has been involved in arbitrations and mediations as counsel and as an arbitrator or mediator. He was a member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada until retiring in 2012.

- Honorary Director of International Sailor’s Society (Canada)
- Director of Mission to Seafarers
- Chair of Vancouver Maritime Museum
- Vice Chair of the Pacific Pilotage Authority
and is a Past Director of:
- Chamber of Shipping of British Columbia
- National Maritime Centre
- Canadian Maritime Law Association
