Our commitment to education with the Vancouver Maritime Museum

April 11, 2014

“The Vancouver Maritime Museum truly appreciates the support from Robert Allan Ltd. who, for the past 8 years has sponsored one of our most popular programs – Tugs for Tykes. This interactive and hands-on educational program, designed primarily for children preschool to grade one, introduces kids to the important role of the tugboat, basic maritime terminology, and roles and responsibilities of the crew. Plus, at the end, they get to build their own wooden tugboats to take home.”

– Ken Burton, Executive Director
Vancouver Maritime Museum

Robert Allan Ltd. is honoured to support our friends at the Vancouver Maritime Museum who continue to educate us all through their outstanding collection and diverse and engaging grade school programs. The Museum works diligently to help make both residents and visitors aware of the deep connection Vancouver has with the Pacific and Arctic Ocean waterways. Their various school programs, which extend all the way up to grade 12, help teachers meet their social studies and science curriculum requirements. Just as planting the seeds of inspiration early in a child’s development is something we stand behind as a company, our commitment to education also includes a university scholarship in honour of the late Robert F. Allan, as well as a very successful and active university student work term program bringing in 6-7 students per year.
