Rolls-Royce to power new Canadian LNG tug designs

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed a non-exclusive cooperation agreement with Robert Allan Ltd, to supply power and propulsion equipment for a series of new and innovative tug designs.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Ken Harford, P. Eng. FEC, President of Robert Allan Ltd, and Neil Gilliver, Rolls-Royce, President – Merchant. A signing ceremony was held at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, on December 5, 2012.

Neil Gilliver, Rolls-Royce, President – Merchant said: “This move to integrate LNG propulsion systems into innovative designs reflects the recent trend for tug operators and owners to embrace cutting edge marine technology to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact. We look forward to working with Robert Allan Ltd on this exciting project.”
