Robert Allan Ltd. and Sanmar Announce new tug series for production
May 19, 2006
At ITS 2006 in Rotterdam, Robert Allan Ltd. and Sanmar Denizcilik Ltd. signed new contracts for the design and development for the design and development of two new high performance tugs for the international market. The new tug designs are:
- ASD 24/40 Class
- RAmparts 2800 Class
These two new designs will be for the exclusive use of Sanmar for construction in Turkey.
The RAmparts 2800 class design, (Fig. 1), has been developed by Robert Allan Ltd. to fulfill a demand for a very powerful but smaller tug than has previously been common in the market. The 28 metre long hull can accommodate power sufficient to deliver up to 65-70 tonnes BP.
The ASD 24/40 Class tug for Sanmar is an updated version of an existing successful tug design which has been built extensively in South America, and that fills a niche for a powerful, agile and yet cost-effective compact harbour tug.
Robert Allan Ltd., and Sanmar are delighted to announce this new extension to their on-going successful collaboration, which continues a 13 year history of close cooperation between the two companies in furthering the cause of better tugs for the world market. The two new tugs represent a valuable addition to the Sanmar portfolio.
